From 1940 to 1941 I was evacuated from Ilford,Essex to Sirhowy. I was billeted with the baker. I can't remember the name of the family but what I do remember was having my tub in a tin bath in the bakehouse behind the house. With the dough rising for the next bake the smell was glorious and it was lovely and warm. Later on my mother and baby brother came and we lodged with an elderly lady in what was then the last house on the right going up the valley. Beyond that was a stone wall with steps going up from pavement level. If anyone can fill in any details for me I would be very grateful. Richard Akers 24 February 2008
