The last Miners' Strike of 1985 was to herald the death knell of the industry in the valley.

The last working Valley pit at Oakdale was eventually closed in 1989.

Another High Street shot - this must be a Sunday morning when all good Blackwood folk were attending Church or Chapel.

( Except S.W.E.B. workers - note the vans- who were obviously on double time! )
